MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) Setup

Multifactor authentication adds a layer of protection to the sign-in process and is required to access Ameresco resources. Follow the steps below to setup MFA. You will need your computer and phone available to setup MFA.

Normally all IT support tickets are opened from our Intranet using forms. If you have issues with MFA setup today please email help@ameresco.com - include a description of the problem and your phone number. We will reach out ASAP.

Instructions

STEP 1) From your computer go to link below to setup MFA. This will open in a new tab so you can return here to follow the steps as needed.

Step 2) On this first screen click on ‘Use another account’

Step 3) Enter your Ameresco email address then click ‘Next’

STEP 4) Enter your Ameresco password - then click on ‘Sign in’

STEP 5) On this screen click on Next to begin the MFA setup

STEP 6) ON YOUR iPhone or Android device: please go to the Google Play store or the Apple App Store and download the ‘Microsoft Authenticator App’ Be sure to get the Microsoft one. There are others with Authenticator in the name. Videos below cover step by step for the install and setup - please watch the one specific to your device.

Note the videos cover steps 6 through 8 so you will need to click on ‘next’ to get the QR code on your computer screen to scan when ready.

STEP 7) Add a Work or School account by clicking the "+" symbol in the Authenticator app on your phone. If prompted to setup a personal or Microsoft account click on skip until get to work account. (watch videos above for more details specific to your device)

STEP 8) Allow the app to use the camera if prompted and then scan the QR code that is displayed on your computer, not the one in the screenshot below. A series of numbers will now show on your screen along with your Ameresco account.

 STEP 9) Once you click next a prompt will appear on your phone. You will need to approve this.

STEP 10) Once approved you will receive the screen below on your computer. You will now need to register your phone number as a secondary method.

STEP 11) Now lets setup a backup method for MFA. Enter your cell phone number. Leave on ‘Text me a code’ Then click on ‘Next’

 STEP 12) Check your phone for the text message. Enter the 6 digit code sent. Once entered click on ‘Next’

STEP 13) SMS/Text method setup successful. Click on ‘Next’

 STEP 14) You can now select if you want to receive a phone call or a text message.

STEP 15) Multi-Factor Authentication setup is now complete. click on ‘done’ Now to to next step of changing your password. Click here to change your Ameresco password
