Setting up Dell USB-C Monitor / Display (27", U2722DE)

If have more than one screen setup just one to start, then follow directions below to add the 2nd

First monitor or single monitor setup: Once you have received your Monitor open the flap of the box to unpackage stand base and stand riser.

Note: Both stand base and stand riser will be detached when you first unpackage items. Once you have your stand base and stand riser you want to align and place the stand riser on the stand base then open the screw handle at the bottom of base and turn clockwise till stand is secure or until your here a click. Now you want to open the protective cover on the monitor to access the VESA slot on the monitor. Slide the tabs on your stand riser into the slots back of your monitor. Hold the stand riser and lift the monitor carefully, then place it on a flat surface. This will lock your monitor onto your stand riser. Now that your monitor is put together, find the cables inside box.

 

 

Your box should come with a (Power cord, DisplayPort aka DP cable or USB-A cable and USB-C cable)

Plug power cord into back of monitor on your left-hand side and plug the other end into surge protector or wall outlet. Connect DP cable into back of monitor for Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Function (Note: Both Ends look exactly the same, so it doesn't matter which side you plug into the back of the monitor) Your monitor will have 4 USB ports (2 in back and 2 under screen) Connect USB-C cable from monitor to laptop. (This will act as your charger). Once all the necessary cables are connected to your monitor, press the power button back of monitor on right side to turn on if does not. Watch for initial message about powering device. select yes so it will charge the laptop. Wired connection should already be (ethernet cable) Goes into back of monitor. Verify mouse, KB and headset all work.

if have a 2nd screen: Set up 2nd monitor the same way you set up your first monitor, now use the DisplayPort cable that comes with the monitor (include pic of what DP cable end looks like) on back of the main monitor you have already setup there is a port with an orange plug. Remove the orange Plug from the back of the monitor and insert the other end of the DP cable into that port. This is known as the DPout port. Now for other end of this cable plug it into the already open DPin port (do not remove the orange insert) Power up the 2nd monitor. if do not see it working you might have to use the cursor pad on back to select input and place it on DP/DisplayPort. Next on the laptop use display settings to change to extended mode and then drag the monitors to match way they are sitting.

Note: Monitor 1 DP Out, USB-C and Power cord - Monitor 2 will take Power cord, DP In

 

Once Monitors and cables are setup Properly: Select both windows logo key + P to get display options

Go to setting and under Systems → Select Display → Select Multiple Displays if your PC does not automatically detect the multiple Displays within the monitors.
