MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) Setup

Multifactor authentication adds a layer of protection to the sign-in process and is required to access Ameresco resources.

Multiple methods of authentication are strongly recommended to prevent yourself from being locked out. Such as in the event that you get a new phone.

If you are registering an additional method such as a phone call/text please skip to step 8.

You can skip this guide if you are setting up a new computer as you will be walked through the process of setting up MFA during the initial computer setup. If using a shared computer or if you were not assigned a computer you can use the below guide.

Instructions

  1. Go to https://aka.ms/setupsecurityinfo  from your computer to register authentication methods for MFA. The first time visiting the site you will see the screen below.

  2. On your Phone please go to the Google Play store or the App Store and download the Microsoft Authenticator App.

  3. Add a Work or School account by clicking the "+" symbol in the Authenticator app on your phone.

  4. Allow the camera app if necessary and then scan the QR code that is displayed on your computer, not the one in the screenshot below. A series of numbers will now show on your screen along with your Ameresco account.

  5. Once you click next a prompt will appear on your phone. You can accept this.

  7. Click on Done to proceed.

  8. Click on "Add Method". If your phone is already listed click on "Enable two-step verification" and skip to step 10.

  12. Your phone is now registered.

  13. If necessary you can register additional methods or change the default method. "Microsoft Authenticator - notification" is the preferred default method.

Please decline any Authenticator prompts/calls/texts you receive on your phone that you aren't expecting and notify the help desk.
