Windows 11 New Computer setup

NOTE: These steps are to be completed with a strong internet connection. Avoid using a weak connection or data limited hotspot for your setup.

Instructions

  1. Plug in and power on your laptop.

  2. Select your language.

     

  3. Select Region.

     

  4. Select Keyboard layout.

     

  5. Select 2nd Keyboard if needed.

     

  6. Connect to a network if not hardwired.

     

  7. Enter the email address and password provided by your hiring manager.

     

  8. Install Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile phone and click next. NOTE: If you don’t have a smart phone or have an issue with this step, select “I want to set up a different method at bottom left and select phone to authenticate via text or phone call instead.

     

  9. Use the Authenticator app on your phone to scan the QR code on your laptop screen. You may need to scroll down to see the entire code.

     

  10. You will see a notification screen to check your phone for an approval prompt from the Authenticator app. Approve the notification on your phone.

     

  11. Setup will begin - if you’re prompted for a 2nd authentication method to proceed choose text, phone or personal email.

     

  12. After initial setup you will be prompted to set up Windows hello (Facial Recognition), fingerprint or PIN that can be used to access your machine as an alternative to your system password.
